Blog Slacker

Don't Judge Me.
I’ve been a blog slacker lately - sorry for the lack of posting! It's been a busy time and not just with weddings but with life! Family vacations, working on re-branding the website and blog, there is so much going on. I slowed down a bit this week to get ready for our September weddings and I was like SEPTEMBER! Where has the summer gone??!! I usually crave all things Fall but it's coming a bit too fast for me for this year :( Well not really because Fall = Football!

Anyhow, just wanted to give the blog hiatus a little break, here are a few shots of what we have been working on this summer. Stay tuned for full recaps, more pics and vendor listings. Promise.

A & B ~ Rehearsal Dinner 06.26.10

We had a blast working with the groom's mother on this rehearsal dinner and we are so pleased that she loved our designs. Enjoy a few pics and an excerpt from a message that was sent to us by the groom's mother.

First, my comments on the rehearsal dinner. You know how concerned I was that the tables would look lost in a big, grey room at the civic center. Your color concept of turquoise and orange was absolutely the best. The room popped but was still elegant, and we personally brought all the way back to DC four of the arrangements for our continued enjoyment. I was absolutely thrilled with the flowers on the table! You did such a perfect job, there is no room for any improvement. ~F.Simon

We really wanted to do something different with the flowers for the rehearsal dinner and not have the designs mirror what the guest would see at the wedding.  It was important to us to have the guest feel like they were attending two separate events.  We used lots of tropical foliage, willow tips, dendrobium and mokara orchids to create these arrangements.  It is our goal to step outside the box and create designs that our clients will love and I think we did just that for this event. We are so pleased to receive such wonderful praise form the Simon family and we can't thank them enough for allowing us to be a part of their special celebration. Stay tuned for pictures and a recap from the wedding!

E & M ~ Married 03.05.10

I have wanted to blog about this wedding for a few weeks but I really needed to wait until I had the time to put together a blog post that really details the wonderful wedding day of Ebonee & Marvin.  There are so many things that I loved about this wedding but I think the one thing that made this wedding standout to me was that it was so personable. Every aspect of the wedding represented the vision and life of this couple, the details, the food, the decor, everything screamed Ebonee & Marvin. This was not your typical overly glitz cookie cutter wedding (which we love by the way), yes I happen to love cookie cutter weddings done right :) As a wedding florist, I love ALL weddings :) Okay back to E & M..... meet these two fabulous people; first up, Marvin:

I selected this picture because I think it really shows his great personality. Marvin is such a cool, laid back type of guy (he and my husband hit if off instantly) and he is so perfect for Ebonee.....Handsome too :) We used white ranunculus for Marvin’s boutonniere. It was so open and fluffy, it looked like a mini peony. Next up Ebonee:

Who is that lovely lady in the background? Her GORGEOUS mother!! Yes, I said meet Ebonee but I just love this photo. In this business you meet so many wonderful people, especially family members of our clients and Ebonee's mom just went above and beyond to make us feel appreciated and more than just another vendor on-site at the venue. I can see where Ebonee gets her true beauty from, inside and out :) Speaking of beauty....Ebonee made one jaw dropping gorgeous bride. Her entire wedding day look was perfect.

Side Note - Ebonee is one talented lady. Check out her personal website (Ebonee Monique). I just read her debut novel and it was amazing. Looking forward to her next novel which comes out in June. More pics of the lovely bride:

We used all white seasonal flowers to create Ebonee's Bouquet. Peonies, ranunculus, roses, carnations and freesia were used. I adored this bouquet and it was so perfect for an outdoor spring wedding.

I wanted to highlight the wrap we used for the bouquet, it matched the beading on her dress so perfectly! Ebonee made her memory charms as an added touch. Lovely way to honor close family and friends that couldn't be here to witness your wedding day. Ebonee & her lovely bridesmaids:

Yes those are carnations! Your eyes aren't deceiving you :) Tightly packed carnations are gorgeous in any color. I love the turquoise ribbon and black pearl pins, looked so lovely against the black bridesmaid dresses.  The ceremony and reception were held at Bradley's Pond which was perfect for the couple's southern chic theme.

With such a gorgeous ceremony space, there was no need for over the top decor or flowers. You were surrounded by nature and nothing is more beautiful than that. The bride provided mason jars and we packed them with white seasonal flowers. We used dendrobium orchids, stock and fluffy white carnations and loosely placed them in the jars so the look would complement the space.  Light and airy, not stuffy and formal.

We lined the aisle with fresh white petals and draped the pergola with white fabric.  We had a slightly different vision for the look of the pergola, we wanted the fabric more free flowing but the wind was super crazy so we had to secure it down. I think it turned out lovely regardless. The entire ceremony space was just classic and simple. I loved it!  The happy couple after the ceremony:

I love any shots of the groom holding the bouquet!

Cocktail hour decor was simple, different stems of white seasonal flowers in mason jars. With the gorgeous lake in the background, not much else was needed.

Ebonee's vision was to carry out the mason jars through each area of the wedding, Marvin on the other hand wanted to see a different option, something with a little height for the reception. Resulting in the Marvin centerpiece (yes, the Posh team really called the centerpieces by name, Lol):

We painted the manzanita branches black and placed them in a contemporay style vase. White anemones were used and they looked spectacular against the branches. The Ebonee centerpiece:

Hydrangea & white petals adorned the sweetheart table and check out the great lighting of the room! The couple did a great job selecting the perfect color for the uplights.

It was such a blessing to work on this wedding and we had so much fun getting to know Ebonee & Marvin. I'm a strong believer that God places people in your life at the right times for a reason and they are so much more than Posh clients, they are our friends and it was a joy being able to witness their wedding day. We were on-site for the entire day as we helped out with several different aspects of the day and I cried like a baby listening to their vows. It was a beautiful ceremony and wedding and we wish them nothing but the best, Happy Married life Mr & Mrs. Thompson!

A & J ~ Married 03.27.10

I was super delighted to receive professional pictures from our bride Ashley a/k/a My Peony Bride! The gorgeous images were taken by Micha Everett.  We provided personal flowers for Ashley's wedding and nothing makes me happier than knowing that a bride fell in love with her bouquet that we created just for them. Ashley took the time to send me a note shortly after her wedding to tell me how happy she was with her flowers and it made my day.  After our initial meeting, I learned that Ashley runs a very successful blog (Bride on a Budget) with a huge following. She uses her blog to document her wedding planning journey but the blog is also wonderful resource for brides. You can find many DIY projects, vendor reviews, advice, budget tips, the list goes on and I highly recommend area brides checking her blog out. We are so honored that we were a part of their day and we wish them nothing but the best! Enjoy the pics!

Love this photo! Stunning bride, gorgeous flowers and the wonderful tree in the background makes for one spectacular image!

Gorgeous BM dress color! Perfect for an outdoor spring wedding.

We added flowers to the top of the cake. How cute is that cake?!

Ashley getting ready to throw the toss bouquet! Loved her hair so much, gorgeous!

Happy Married Life Ashley & Jason!! We wish you all the best!

C & A ~ Centerpieces & Details!

One thing we pride ourselves on is being able to bring any space to life, this was definitely the case for this reception space. Tallahassee only has a handful of event spaces that allow you the freedom to bring in your own vendors and this was really important to this couple. They wanted a family friend to handle the catering so they had to find a space that would allow it and the Old Antique Car Museum was a great location for that. However, this space did present some challenges decor wise but with a little imagination and COLOR, the end result for this reception was spectacular. The couple initially had a yellow and chocolate brown color scheme and after viewing the reception site, we asked them to allow us to add a pop color to the decor because the paint and the carpet of the venue blended with their color scheme. They agreed and I think the pop of pink here and there was very posh. We loved this bride so much, she is just the sweetest person and we will miss our meetings with her, she kept us smiling :) It was our pleasure to surprise her with a crystal tree for the check in table:

I absolutely loved how this tree came out. The china mums are so luxurious in texture they worked well with the crystals and the metallic gold of the tree.

We created two different centerpieces for this wedding. This was our Lemon bride :) That is all she requested and gave us creative control to come up with something that would work well in the space. For the tall centerpieces we created a caranation ball with birch branches. The ceilings were sssooo low in this space so we didn't want the centerpieces to be too high. The first picture was taken right before the guest came in.

The smaller centerpieces were in a small round cylinder vase, lined with coffee beans and packed with gorgeous skyline & light yellow roses, white roses, pink spray roses, yellow freesia and billy balls. We also used birch branches and lemons to tie in all the centerpieces.

We also created all of the paper details for this wedding. In this next shot you can get a view of the coffee beans used in the smaller centerpieces.

I wanted to share how cute this cake was. Tiki's Tasties really is a fantastic vendor to use. Her work is fantastic and her cakes are beyond delicious. Hands down, one of the best in this area. We used her for our wedding so I can personally recommend her services. Posh provided the flowers and Tiki and her team produced another masterpiece. Cute!

Chirrie & Ren, we wish you all many years of wedded bliss. We loved working with you and your family and thank you for letting us be a part of your day!
