Frequently Asked Questions

WooHoo! Wedding season is approaching and Posh Stems like many other vendors in the industry are gearing up and getting ready. We are receiving client inquiries and we love meeting new and potential clients. It is always a pleasure to hear engagement stories and see the excitement in the couple as they prepare for their wedding day. We thought it would be helpful to post answers to some frequently asked questions that we get quite often. Selecting your wedding day vendors is extremely important and we want to make the process as informative and helpful as we can on our end. We understand that we aren’t a fit for all couples that we meet and we are okay with that but we do want to stress that you can’t always shop for a vendor based solely on price. My husband and I used this as a motto as we planned our own wedding and it ensured that we selected the very best for us on our wedding day and I just want to pass on that piece of advice.

Can I provide the flowers from an online vendor that sells bulk flowers like Sam’s or Costco’s and have Posh create designs? Will that save me money?

We are serious when we say we hand select the finest flowers from around the world for your event. We work with certain growers and wholesalers that ensure the freshest stems to their clients. It is a long road traveled for the flowers that you will carry on your wedding day. These flowers have been nurtured, handled and cared for by professionals up until the point they reach your hands. If there is an issue with the flowers I can turn to my supplier and get it corrected immediately. If there are problems with your shipment from your online vendor, how will that get resolved two days before your wedding? Everyone will go into panic mode and there is no guarantee we can fix the problem. Will the flowers be properly fed and hydrated by the time we have to start designing your wedding flowers? So many questions with this scenario; so NO, we don’t create designs from flowers provided by a client for a wedding. Trust us to order the best for you and you will have peace of mind.

Can you create designs with silk flowers so it can save us money?

We do not work with silk flowers and if we did, the quality we would use would be top of the line and will cost more than some fresh flower stems. Previously I worked with a couple who were convinced that using silk callas would be cheaper. I sent them on a field trip to Michaels and had them tally up the costs……..let’s just say they had a beautiful wedding with fresh gorgeous calla lilies. We have nothing against silk work but it is our preference to work with only fresh flowers. However, if there is a member of the bridal party that is allergic to fresh flowers we will gladly create personal flowers for that particular person using silk stems.

Why are you charging me $50 for a bouquet and I can get 2 dozen roses at Costco for $14.99?

This is always a hard one to answer because no matter what answer I give this is all about perception. If you don’t think a bouquet should ever cost that amount then you will never understand why florists charge what they do. Flowers are perishable items and just because you are paying for a 25 stem peony bouquet doesn’t mean there should be no behind the scene costs associated with that bouquet. That same 25 stem peony bouquet that you have dreamt of carrying while planning your wedding is gorgeous and just as you expected it once it is delivered on your wedding day but those peonies had to endure a lot to get to you. We also had to order 40 peonies instead of only 25……not all flowers open and thrive like they should so we had to make sure we had a good selection for your bouquet. Its nature and flowers are not perfect products, they have a mind of their own so we have to price accordingly to ensure you are getting that perfect bouquet.

Can I pick up my bridal party flowers and centerpieces to save on delivery and set up charges?

We only allow pick up of personal flowers. Unfortunately, if we are creating centerpieces for your wedding we need to ensure that they make it to the venue in proper form if our name is attached. We stick to this policy because if we have someone come and pick up a tall centerpiece, get it to the venue and attempt to set it up and it is not in accordance with our standards no one will say “hey that centerpiece must have been delivered and set up wrong” they will say “wow, that florist did an awful job setting up the centerpieces”. The Tallahassee area is very small and we charge a very, very reasonable rate for setup and delivery so no, we can’t waive that fee unless it is for personal flowers.

Why can’t you just quote me a price without doing a proposal?

We can give you a ball park figure for certain items but most prospective clients want a specific price based on a description and/or a picture. It takes time for us to analyze and come up with a floral recipe, then we can come up with a price. If you want a fall themed centerpiece in an elevated vase, we need to sit and write out the components to that particular centerpiece and price accordingly. It may take 8 mango callas, 14 circus roses, 25 red roses, etc., to design the centerpiece you want and we can’t just pull prices out of our heads without taking the time to research. This is where seasonal availability has to be considered and several different elements make up a price. We apologize in advance but it does take several hours to provide an accurate proposal and or price list.

Hopefully our readers and perspective clients have found these questions and answers very helpful. Check back soon for our past due monthly bouquet feature from February. Sorry we didn't post one, it was a busy month :)
